MANILA -The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief said that UNTV Cup is a big help to the PNP as it does not only give them the opportunity to showcase their skills in basketball, it also supports them to extend help to the needy like their chosen charity/beneficiary.
“Sa UNTV Cup management maraming salamat po. Napakalaking tulong nitong ginawa ninyo sa amin na ma-showcase yong abilidad ng ating mga player sa kapulisan, yung kanilang abilidad sa paglalaro, yung kanilang skills,” said Roald “Bato” dela Rosa in an interview by the Student Reporter of Radio La Verdad.
The Director General thanked Kuya Daniel Razon, the Chairman and CEO of UNTV-BMPI, for spearheading the UNTV Cup – a charity basketball league composed of different teams of public servants.
He also expressed how thankful he is for the countless help and support that they had been receiving from Kuya Daniel Razon since then.
“Kay Kuya Daniel nagpapasalamat rin kami at napakarami na pong tulong na naibigay niya sa amin, sa PNP. Hindi ko na mabibilang. Marami na po siyang tulong na naibibigay. Sana po tuloy-tuloy ang swerte, tuloy-tuloy yung blessings galing kay God sa kanya at sa UNTV, para tuloy tuloy yung suporta na natatanggap namin sa inyo. Maraming salamat po,” he hopefully added.
PNP Responders won the UNTV Cup 5 Championship
Meanwhile, the Team PNP Responders bagged the championship title and the P4,000,000 cash prize after defeating Malacañang Kamao during their 3rd and final rematch. Responders who intensely played in the hardcourt outscored Kamao with the score of 68-55.
Kamao then landed as the 2nd placer of the game and did not go home empty-handed as they also received a cash prize of P2,000,000. While the Judiciary Magis (3rd place) and the BOC Transformers (4th place) received P1,000,000 and 500,000 cash prize respectively.
In the UNTV Cup program, each team has their own chosen charities as the end beneficiary of their cash prizes. Below are the list of UNTV Cup Teams and their chosen charities:
Champion: PNP Responders – Police Community Relations Group “Drug Rehabilitation Program”.
2nd placer: Malacañang Kamao – Cancer Patients and Millennium Sports Support System Association Incorporated.
3rd placer: Judiciary Magis – Judiciary Employees Severely Affected by Typhoons and Calamities.
4th placer: BOC Transformers – Caritas Manila, Inc.
The other teams which did not qualify to the Final 4 received a consolation prize of P100,000 each for their chosen charities:
- AFP Cavaliers – AFP-EBSO (Education Benefit Systems Office)
- BFP Firefighters – Philippine Science High School Foundation Inc.
- MMDA Blackwolves – Philippine General Hospital – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Inc. and Damayan MMDA Provident Fund
- Senate Defenders – Kythe Foundation Inc., Pangarap Foundation and Share An Opportunity, Philippines Inc.
- Ombudsman Graftbusters – Ombudsman Provident Fund
- DOJ Justice Boosters – DOJ Employees Association
- GSIS Furies – Kapisanan ng mga Manggagawa sa GSIS
- HOR Solons – Foundation of Our Lady of Peace Missions, Inc. and Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc.
- NHA Builders – NHA Provident Fund Association, Inc.
A total of P8,400,000 were awarded for charity on UNTV Cup Season 5 Finals.
It was awarded by BMPI-UNTV CEO Daniel Razon, VP Commissioner Atoy Co during the Game 2 (March 14) and Game 3 (March 21) of the UNTV Cup Season 5 Finals at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum,
UNTV Cup is the country’s one and only charity basketball league for public servants, which primary aim is not only to promote unity amongst government agencies, but also to help them give assistance to their chosen charities as recipient of the winning price.
The Members Church of God International and Bro. Eli Soriano are the primary sponsors of the UNTV Cup since its inception in July 2013 coinciding the 9th Anniversary Celebration of UNTV.
