MANILA, Philippines (01/23/2017) – The mountain teacher Joylaine Canonio from Sarangani province gets emotional as Vice Ganda commended her for winning her fifth day of being the Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s defending champion. Maraming maraming salamat. Kaya maraming sumusuporta sa iyo,” said Vice Ganda as he commends teacher Joylaine for her sacrifices.

Teacher Joylaine was in tears and almost speechless for Vice Ganda’s remarks on her. And as she expressed her joy for her win, vice Ganda added: “Alam mo ‘yong magagandang nangyayari sa’yo ngayon for sure isa sa mga batang naturuan mo sa bundok may magandang mangyayari din sa kanila. You inspired many people. Kaya hangang-hanga kami ‘sayo.”

Meanwhile, Joylaine’s heartfelt rendition of Sarah G’s “If Only” received an average score of 92.8 percent, while the daily winner contender Yssa Romano of Visayas got only 89.8 percent. Teacher Joylaine’s fifth win today qualified her for the semifinals to compete for a grandfinalist’s slot.

Vice Ganda asked her.

“Kahit namimiss ko na po sila, ipagpapatuloy ko pa rin po,” said Teacher Joylaine in tears.
