MANILA, Philippines – The veteran broadcaster and public service advocate Kuya Daniel Razon received a token of appreciation from the National Press Club (NPC) of the Philippines for the unceasing support he gives to the members of Philippine press media for over a decade now.
The token of appreciation was awarded to Kuya Daniel and UNTV by the NPC’s President and Vice President, Mr. Paul M. Gutierrez and Mr. Benny D. Antiporda during their courtesy visit last October 17, 2016 at the UNTV
“UNTV has always been a steadfast partner of the NPC in many of its projects for more than a decade now and helped launched the Club’s educational assistance program some 8 years ago that benefited more than 100 Club members and their families since then,” said Gutierrez on a photo he uploaded on Facebook that was taken during the awarding of recognition.
The Scholarship Program
It can be remembered that in 2008, Kuya Daniel, together with the Rotary Club International and Ang Dating Daan program hosted by the prominent International religious preacher, Bro. Eli Soriano, has started their support for the NPC’s scholarship program intended for the children of the members of the Club. Added to that, the one hundred thousand pesos cash donation of Ms. Ruth Soriano, a UNTV executive, served as “seed money” to help sustain the NPC’s scholarship program.
The NPC’s educational program provides each beneficiary a full payment of their college tuition and other miscellaneous fees. To date, the project has benefited more than a hundred Club members including their families according to NPC’s executive.
Regular Monthly Medical Mission for the Press
Another significant part of UNTV, Kuya Daniel and Bro. Eli Soriano’s advocacy for the members of the media is their medical and dental mission every month that are intended especially for the NPC members and their relatives.
The media beneficiaries of this advocacy expressed their gratitude for the help and support that it provides for them.
“Napakalaking tulong ito, lalo na sa mga press na walang wala sa buhay. Katulad ko, kahit papaano, kailangang kailangan kong pumunta dito kasi kailangan ko ng maintenance para sa aking sakit. Sabi ko talagang okay sa nagagawa ng Dating Daan ni Kuya Daniel saka ni Bro. Eli. Maraming salamat sa kanila dahil nag-form sila ng ganitong klaseng klinika para sa mga taong mahihirap” – expressed by Jay Orencia an Entertaiment Writer during his interview with UNTV News last year (2015). (This is a big help to the press, especially to those members who have less in life. Take my case as an example, I come here because I need maintenance for my sickness. Thank you to the Ang Dating Daan, Kuya Daniel and Bro. Eli, for forming this kind of Clinic for the less fortunate.”
“Ako’y pioneer, based on the record nakita ko na 2008 nandito na ako. At ako ay nagpapasalamat dahil sa maintenance na nakukuha ko dito. Diabetic ako at siguro naman di ako tatagal kung walang mga gamot , at libre pa. Nagpapasalamat ako at walang diskriminasyon, maging Christian ka man, Muslim o anong lahi eh accepted ka dito, welcome ka dito.” expressed by Alex Datu an Entertaiment Columnist during his interview with UNTV News last year (2015). (I am a pioneer. Based on records, I started coming here in 2008. I’m really thankful for the maintenance I have received and continue to receive. I am diabetic. I thank [Kuya Daniel and Bro. Eli] for not discriminating, whether we are Christians or Muslims, we are all accepted and welcomed here.)
“For UNTV to render this kind of service to provide free medical and dental consulations and treatments to tha members eh malaking bagay kasi malaking bawas sa mga gastusin nila, malaking bawas sa alalahanin nila and ang mas maganda doon eh it’s not just for the members but na-e-extend din pati sa mga pamilya nila.” said Tina Maralit, Secretary, NPC during her interview with UNTV News last year (2015) (For UNTV to render this kind of service, to provide free medical and dental consulations and treatments to the members is a big deal because their expenses is reduced by a huge amount, their worries are lessened. And the good thing about it, it is not just for the members but extends also to their families.)
UNTV, through the management of Kuya Daniel Razon and Bro. Eli Soriano, became well known as the “Philippine’s public service channel” because of the many public services it provides for the people, especially for the less fortunate.
