MANILA, Philippines – The team PNP Responders is incredibly determined to win the championship game for this season.
Despite taking on their intensive war against drugs, the Philippine National Police’s team still manages to have painstaking preparations for the UNTV’s basketball-charity-game, which is set to open this August 29 at MOA Arena.
“We’re doing conditionings now. Mga exercises in the gym. And we play with different teams from groups/areas of PNP. We also play with our colleagues in AFP…,” one of the players from PNP Responders said.
PNP Responders is known as one of the powerful basketball teams in the UNTV Cup. Bagging the 1st runner-up, it almost steal the championship crown from the AFP Cavaliers for two consecutive game seasons (Season 3 and 4).
“Sa mga walang sawa na sumusuporta sa PNP Responders, maraming, maraming salamat. This coming season 5, gagawin namin lahat sa abot ng aming kakayanan na maiuwi ang Championship crown na sana’y ipagkaloob ng Dios Ama…Thanks po sa lahat!” – says PO3 Abul Khair Bayabao (point guard) of PNP Responders

UNTV Cup Season 5 is expected to be more exciting as more teams and players will be playing. The Bureau of Customs (BOC), dubbed as the “Transformers”, is one of the newest teams of the game. Even Senator Manny Pacquiao, who is also an active PBA player, is excited to play for Team Senate Defenders as one of its newest members.
UNTV Cup is the only basketball game on TV that features teams and players from various government agencies. The game primarily promotes unity among government agencies and bureaus. Each team has their own chosen charity where the big part of their winnings is given. Last season, UNTV gave a total of 8 million cash prizes – all for charity.
This unique basketball game is the brainchild of Mr. Public Service Kuya Daniel Razon.
