Serbisyong Kasangbahay Helps Drug Dependents Surrender to Authorities

MANILA, Philippines – At least six people dealing with illegal drugs in the Philippines sought assistance from UNTV’s Serbisyong Kasangbahay in surrendering themselves to the authorities.

Screen Shot 2016-08-16 at 9.25.27 PMAs of this writing, Serbisyong Kasangbahay already helped the six drug dependents to voluntarily surrender to the authorities.

Rather than seeking help from their respective barangay and city officials, they chose Kuya Daniel’s program in entrusting their lives and safety. Serbisyong Kasangbahay promptly coordinated each surrenderee to authorities during live guestings or via phone patch.

Kuya Daniel Razon: Bakit sa akin ho kayo lumapit, para ho kayo’y sumurender? Bakit, ayaw nyo hong mapatay? [Why have yo come to me for your surrender? You don’t want to get executed?]

Drug User: Ganun na nga po dahil sa alam po namin na dito po yung tamang ligtas sa pagsurender namin. [That is right because we feel that it is safe to surrender (through your program). Same goes to me]

Kuya Daniel Razon: Ah okay, bakit ayaw nyo doon sa barangay ninyo sumuko? [Why don’t you like to surrender in your barangay [officiials]? ]

Drug User: Eh dun nga po ang madalas ang patayan pagka sumuko eh. [Because it is there in barangays where there are many who get killed. There are those who surrendered but then get killed.]

The officials who accepted these concerns were P/Supt. Gilbert Cruz, Director of PCRG; PSupt.Elizabeth Jasmin, PIO-CIDG; P/SSupt. Gilbert Cruz, Director, PCRG; and Councilor Manuel E. Sarmiento, Chairman, Committee on Dangerous Drugs, Marikina City.

First was Joseph, covering his face, a drug user who appeared in the program last July 26 seeking help to surrender. The second was Jojo, 21, and Anton, 32, who appeared in the program last August 04. Both claimed they were selling illegal drugs.

A week after, on August 11, another two drug users came in the program who also sought help to surrender. The two are a couple. They said that they were afraid to surrender in their barangay because of the numerous drug-related killings in their place.

And on August 15, an unnamed drug pusher, covering his face, appeared in the program for the same reason – to surrender.

As the new administration is keen on its war against illegal drugs, hundreds of thousands have already surrendered to the authorities and hundreds have been killed in simultaneous drug-related operations by the Philippine National Police. Serbisyong Kasangbahay opened its door to these people involved in drugs on their life-changing decisions who are looking for hope.

Serbisyong Kasangbahay is a new program of UNTV. It is another project and advocacy of Mr. Public Service, Kuya Daniel Razon. Its primary concern is to serve the people who are in need of help – may it be of medical, legal, education assistance or any other public service. It connects the patients to the medical doctors. It connects the victims to the authorities. Serbisyong Kasangbahay works as a problem solver for the needy.
