The #DuterteNeedsOurPrayers trended on social media last July 02, 2016 as thousand of netizens from MCGI and non-MCGI used it in expressing their prayers and support to President Duterte following the publication of Bro. Eli Soriano’s article, ‘President Rodrigo Duterte and Power that God Allows’, on his Controversy Extraordinary blog.
Soriano’s blog peruses specifically in support to President Duterte’s quest for the country’s overall renewal. He particularly pointed out President Duterte’s acknowledgment and belief that it is God who put him into the most powerful position in the Philippine government.
Soriano also expressed that he and the MCGI worldwide, where he is the Presiding Minister, will support and contribute to President Duterte’s call for a change – for the betterment of the entire country. Before the blog ends, the International Preacher offered gratefulness and prayers for the new President.
To date, the MCGI would always include the Duterte’s administration, especially the President, in their prayers as taught by Bro. Eli Soriano in accordance to the Bible.
“Dapat magpasalamat tayo, mamagitan tayo, manalangin tayo patungkol sa lahat ng tao. Magkaroon tayo ng budhi na mahal natin ang lahat ng tao pati ang gobyerno, yung mga nasa mataas na kalagayan. Ang mga hari kasama mong ipanalangin; ipanalangin natin pati yung bagong gobyerno ngayon, yun ang gusto ng Dios sa atin,” Bro. Eli advised during the MCGI Thanksgiving last 09 July 2016 citing 1 Timothy Chapter 2 verses 1-3. (We should give thanks, intercede, pray for all people. Let us have the conscience to love all people including the government, those that are in authority. Pray for kings. Let us pray for the new government now. That is what God wants from us.)
[1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;] [KJV]
