MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines finally welcomed its new President as Honorable President-elect Rodrigo Roa Duterte sworn into office on June 30, 2016 at Rizal Ceremonial Hall in Malacañang.
The world witnessed on how the 16th President of the Philippines delivered his succinct yet powerful speech without even reading his copy. Reiteration of his promise to fighting criminalities, drugs, and corruptions for the betterment of his countrymen were the highlights of his address. Individuals and prominent personalities were moved as they have seen and felt his seriousness.
One of whom is Bro. Eli Soriano, a well-known religious preacher and host of the Philippines’ longest-running religious program, Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path). He expressed his thoughts about the Presidents’ inaugural speech through his social media account in Quipsphere.
“I listened attentively to the inaugural speech of President Rodrigo Duterte. I believe and I have felt the sincerity of the man in his speech!” Soriano said
“What is in store and what can I say about the new government of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte? I felt the sincerity of him as I listened very attentively to the inaugural speech of the President. This is the first time in my life that the speech of a president touched my heart. While listening to him, I was asking God to help him. “God, please help this man,” was my prayer with tears in my eyes and with joy in my heart.” he added on his blog.
However, this is not the first time that Soriano became vocal about the President. Soriano is the only religious televangelist in Philippine who showed much support to President Duterte. On his blog (Controversy Extraordinary), Soriano vocally defended the President against his religious and bias media assailant.
Aside from Soriano, the multi-awarded broadcaster Kuya Daniel Razon, Chairman and CEO of BMPI-UNTV, also commended the new President. Razon said that he was moved by the present standing of President Duterte as it had showed on how he cares for his citizens.
Furthermore, the nation literally expressed their congratulations and admiration for President Duterte’s genuineness. Various social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Quipsphere were used by the netizens. Trending topics such as #PartnerForChange, Digong, #Du30SaJun30, and #Inauguration2016UNTV had circulated the mainstream even before the start of the inauguration.
It is also amazing how the militants rallied in support for the newly-elected president – a first in Philippine history. Moreover, drug addicts voluntarily surrender themselves in overwhelming numbers. Thus, could this be a sign of a new Philippines?
